NCSOA has an obligation to CIF and JSS to train 18 hours per year. In the past we have not done that.
This Board is developing a flexible training program to make progress toward CIF and JSS standards per our contract with them.
Recognizing the importance of providing fully qualified and experienced referees for the most competitive games, NCSOA R1 level referees will have to meet the NCSOA defined criteria as well as other past aspects of R1 status - USSF grade, experience, fitness, leadership capability. R1 requirements will take effect starting the 2019/2020 season.
NCSOA training requirements will include hours for meetings, passing the NFHS test, and participating in classroom and field training sessions.
Two outdoor sessions will include dual system instruction a "fun run", distance or time not yet defined.
Nine classroom sessions (three unique topics each repeated three times), will be held in various locations and dates to make attendance easy.
As soon as we have more information on other training options, it will be published on the website. The website will publish all training options, along with the requirements for membership and R1 status. Please check it frequently.
